Columbia River and Gorge – Portland Area, Oregon – May 18th 2017

Columbia River Gorge-Windsurfing this is that mecca of places……….I’m not sure the main post photo convey’s how truly breathtaking the views are around here.

Wind and Kite surfers in the Background. Paulie if reading this, you have got to come up and give it a go. Really amazing watching them zoom by right in front of you. Obviously why so many Flock Here.

Wow you say look at the beautiful photo, The Gardens silly. Yes my Wife is Beautiful and enhances the photo, but what is funny or interesting is where this is. This is a fish Hatchery grounds for the Columbia River. A small gem just like my Baby, we found this place on our exploration of the area. We had the place all to ourselves and just enjoyed the place. Yes we found this thanks to my Baby who wanted to go off the beaten path, again.

Petrified Wood, of course a photo of Staci Touching it. So the Rock, sorry petrified wood is 22 million years old and apparently the cascades and the columbia river were formed by this large landslide.  1st Trees now Rocks teaching me interesting things, Aghhhhh next it will be Water.

Notice the Fish Hatchery ponds in the back of the photo, Stunning garden where you would have never expected to find one.

Love at the Columbia River Gorge area. The main post photo was a shot of where we are kissing now, from another lookout point.

Why a Bridge photo!! Because it is a photo of the Bridge of the Gods (Actual Name) separating Oregon and Washington over the Columbia River. The God part comes in as you drive Over the bridge and feel it move and look down through the rather large steel grate holes that make it seem as though you are suspended on nothing and you go out loud “Ohh God”, Thus the name Bridge of the Gods. At least that is how we saw it although the real version may not concur with our understanding of how it was named. We are standing by our theory of the name, because we also said “Ohh God” we have to go back over it. Working on a ground roots campaign to change the name to “Bridge of the Ohh Gods”

Okay so you drive from Troutdale on the columbia river towards the Gorge part on the river. Pretty view but, on the way back took the road just 100 ft inside the main highway and we saw so many fantastic waterfalls crashing right next to the road. Move over Yosemite, This is now our favorite Waterfall place, because you are right there and no extra effort to get to them.

Photo just a ten minute drive from where are RV was. Amazing, also the person who took the photo was the only other person there. No crowds, waterfalls galore, close to our RV home, Boy it’s a hands down winner spot.

As you might have noticed, I am impressed with the area and highly recommend visiting the area and don’t miss the road 100ft over from the main highway that has all the waterfalls. You scoff at the 100ft, look at the vegetation you can’t see more than 50ft through it. Kind of amazing it was so close and so many waterfalls, yet cannot be seen from the main road.
