Wild Bill Hickok – Deadwood, South Dakota – August 1st, 2017

Staci says she wants to do the writing here, so cross your fingers, but don’t hold your breath she will get to it. Ouch why did you whack me Baby. Apparently it might be sooner than later. Later has become NOW silly boy! 😉

One of Deadwood’s most famous residents was Wild Bill Hickok if you didn’t know.  HBO even did a mini-series about Deadwood that was a big hit! I’ve read about this town all my life and it was SO cool that Kyle drove me to it and I got to see all the places that history happened.  Running theme here, getting to see the ACTUAL places where history happened thanks to my Babe!

Kyle says I need to get back to the post now….this next photo is where Wild Bill Hickok was shot.  “Dead Man’s Hand” was associated with him after he was shot in the back playing poker.  If you want to know more, follow this link:  http://www.legendsofamerica.com/we-billhickok.html

What would a trip to Deadwood be if “I” didn’t go to the cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane were buried?!  Kyle rolls his eyes when I talk about how I get it that Calamity Jane was head over heels about Wild Bill to the point where she told everyone that when she died, she wanted to be buried next to him.  I know, I know, sappy romanticism but I get it totally, that’s how I feel about Kyle!

Anyway, here is a pic of their graves, note, her grave is the one in the background.

.

Wild Bills head stone has been replaced numerous times!  I thought the bust of him was pretty good

On the way back down to Kyle, I took this picture of our truck with him in it waiting for me.  He was SO sweet to bring me to the cemetery even though he has NO interest to go to them!  Thank you you sweet man!

Deadwood was pretty impressive as well with all the motorcycles that were there because of the Sturgis Bike Rally.  It was amazing to see all the bikes parked along the old main street.

Again, more bikes!

This is Deadwood 2 days before the Sturgis Rally. I cannot imagine more Motorcycles than what we encountered.
